I Solisti Filarmonici Italiani are considered today among the most important international chamber orchestras and they collect the long experience and legacy matured in more than twenty years with I Virtuosi di Roma before, and then with I Solisti Italiani (The Italian Soloists).
All the members of the group have collected a significant concert activity, they play as “First Solo Parts” in the major Italian orchestras and are winners of the most important international competitions (Vittorio Gui, Stradivari, Viotti, ARD of Munich, Paris, London).
The Italian Philharmonic Soloists face a repertoire that originates in chamber music to reach the string orchestra, playing mostly without director.
Unique in Italy, they alternate all their roles such as Soloists, Concertators and First Parts. Particularly worthy of mention in their international business (which sees them regular guests in North and South America, Japan ed Far East, South Africa as well as throughout Europe), are the invitations to Amsterdam (Concertgebouw), Berlin (Philarmonie), Bonn (Beethovenhalle), Munich (Herkulessaal), Vienna (Musikverein), New York (Metropolitan Museum and Carnegie Hall), Washington (Kennedy Center), Chicago, Cleveland, Boston, Buenos Aires (Mozarteum Argentino and Teatro Colón), San Paolo, Rio de Janeiro, Paris (Salle Pleyel), Madrid (Auditorio Nacional), Barcelona, Milan (Quartet Society), Rome, Istanbul (Festival), Taipei (National Concert Hall), Seoul (Arts Center), Hong Kong, Tokyo (Suntory Hall and Opera City), Osaka (Symphony Hall and Izumi Hall).
Their performances have been appreciated by critics of The New York Times, The Washington Post, Corriere della Sera, Suddeutsche Zeitung and have been reported in specialized magazines such as Diapason, Le Monde de La Musique, Fono Forum, Cd Classica and Amadeus, for their interpretative vivacity, the great virtuosity and the brightness of the sound. They frequently played concerts and tours with friends such as Kathleen Battle, Hansjorg Schellenberger, Milan Turkovic, Michala Petri, Mstislav Rostropovich, Charlotte Margiono, Paul Badura-Skoda, Andrea Griminelli.
They recorded for the major radio broadcasters around the world. Numerous are their CDs with various record companies and mainly for Denon Nippon Columbia, DECCA, Stradivarius, CPO and Exton, with whom they have recently recorded Grieg’s music for string orchestra, chamber works and even for movies of E. Morricone and N. Rota; in addition to this, they also recorded inedited and virtuosic instrumental pieces of the Italian Nineteenth century, famous pieces of the Italian Baroque transcribed for string orchestra by Respighi and Zandonai and the Concerts by A. Vivaldi for flute with Andrea Griminelli. Among the future activities there will be the recording of the works for strings by P.I.Tchaikovsky for CPO, some tours in Japan and the Far East, and the recording of 2 new CDs for Denon and Exton as well.
