Bayadere – Il regno delle ombre

Ballet in one act for 12 dancers

by Ludwing Minkus and Michele Di Stefano

Music by Ludwing Minkus
Choreography by Michele Di Stefano
Original music by Lorenzo Bianchi Hoesch

Bayadere is a ballet steeped in idealized exoticism, both in the melodramatic plot and in the aesthetics of the whole.
Traditionally, his most famous scene, the Regno delle Ombre, is borderline between reality and the afterlife, where the shadows that appear are frozen in their tragic condition and the movements they make are ritual; the act expresses a vision that goes beyond the context and opens up to a passage of pure movement, abstract and lucid in its formal simplicity.
My interest is directed precisely to the compositional potential that this scene contains, not to replicate it but to unleash all its dynamic force and also to restore to Solor’s hallucination its true psychedelic nature. Designed for an ensemble of very young talents, this new Realm of Shadows so mysteriously full of suggestions belongs to the exceptional times we are living in, because it refers to something lost and something possible at the same time, something that concerns the presence of bodies and the interweaving of their trajectories, in a space that is no longer just a beyond but a present that wishes to be reinvented with delicacy and passion.

Pulcinella

New production for 10 young professional dancers under 21

Music Igor Stravinski, Giovan Battista Pergolesi
Dramaturgy Andrea Di Bari
Lights Carlo Cerri
Costumes Santi Rinciari

The evening is a synthetic reinterpretation in a contemporary key of the character of Pulcinella in his relations with a series of other protagonists of his world, regardless of an overly narrative setting, but not without references to the eighteenth-century world in which this mask assumed as an image is affirmed. universal. This is in tune with most of the score composed by Igor Stravinskij, with interpolations of pieces also composed by Giovan Battista Pergolesi.
