They are considered among the most important chamber orchestras on the international scene and draw on the long experience gained over more than 20 years, first with the Virtuosi di Roma and then with the Solisti Italiani. All the members of the group have an assiduous concert activity, they play as first solo parts in the major Italian orchestras and are winners of the most important international competitions (Vittorio Gui, Stradivari, Viotti, ARD of Monaco, Paris, London). The Solisti Filarmonici Italiani mostly play without a conductor: unique in Italy, they alternate in all roles as soloists, conductors and first parts. They have recorded for various record companies (Denon Nippon Columbia, DECCA, Stradivarius, CPO, Exton) recording music for string orchestra by Grieg, chamber and film music by Ennio Morricone and Nino Rota, unpublished and virtuosic instrumental pieces by 'Ottocento italiano, famous pieces of the Italian Baroque transcribed for string orchestra by Respighi and Zandonai and Vivaldi's flute concerts with Andrea Griminelli. Their performances have received acclaim from the New York Times, the Washington Post and Corriere della Sera and have been reported by specialist magazines for their interpretative vivacity, virtuosity and brightness of sound. Among the discs to be released in the near future is the recording of Tchaikovsky's works for strings for CPO.
