THE NEW SHOW VOICES AND STRINGS WITH THE FOURTH QUARTET
AND THE DIRECTION OF MASTER GEORGI ANDREEV

Le Mystere des Voix Bulgares, the world-famous female choir that intertwines Bulgarian musical traditions with contemporaneity, returns to Italy, with two stops in Belluno and Venice signed by Veneto Jazz.
The vocal ensemble, winner of a Grammy Award and with 70 years of history, will be at the Dino Buzzati Theater in Belluno and at the Malibran Theater in Venice on 2 and 3 February 2024 respectively, with a new, magical show entitled “Voices and Strings” created in collaboration with the composer and conductor Georgi Andreev and the musicians of the Quarto Quartet.

The “mystery” of Bulgarian voices is a fascinating combination of ancient songs and Balkan dances mixed with modern arrangements. Harmonies, dissonances and free patterns, born from ancient Saxon, Thracian, Slavic and Iranian mixes, create a unique listening experience for the European spectator. The voice is not the fixed one of opera singers, but a natural voice which, rising towards the high pitch, becomes similar to a powerful cry, rich in harmonics. The singing is open, it comes directly from the throat and thus maintains the unrepeatable qualities of each individual… The music of Bulgarian songs is completely different from our way of composing. The sounds of the voices slide by quarter tones, passing from one sound to another with unthinkable mutations. Not only that: the rhythmic patterns adopted, made up of odd tempos and continuously varying groupings, are almost uncontrollable for an ear educated in European music. This destabilization of the intellect in listening unconsciously forces us to listen with another part of us, devoid of cognitive patterns: emotion. Bulgarian voices communicate through a primordial language, made of sounds and sensations.

The concerts are promoted by Veneto Jazz in collaboration with the Fondazione Teatro La Fenice of Venice and the Teatro Comunale of Belluno and with the support of the Veneto Region and the Ministry of Culture.

Pre-sales for the concerts are available on the Ticketone circuit (online and points of sale).
