Biography
On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of Pasolini's birth (March 5, 2022), we offer a tribute to the immense poet who combines words and music.
The departure is Carlo Lucarelli's book, PPP, PASOLINI UN SEGRETO ITALIANO, published by Rizzoli in 2015.
The writer recounts and remembers the poet and filmmaker through italics and editorials found in an attic of his family home in Mordano, and then delves into the Italy of those years, steeped in heinous violence, and the dynamics that led to the murder of the Casarrese intellectual.
The show, conceived as a recital with author Carlo Lucarelli, brings the words of his book to the stage, with piano and voice fitting like dense brushstrokes into the narrative of an Italian Secret. Lucarelli investigates the thinker's death by reading it, precisely, as an "Italian mystery," moving from more narrative moments of historical reconstruction to personal impressions of the events that occurred.
Elena Pau's voice and Alessandro Nidi's piano will perform a selection of singer-songwriter songs that recount the Italy of those years (Francesco De Gregori, Claudio Lolli), to which are added songs dedicated to Pier Paolo Pasolini, written and composed by, among others, Giovanna Marini and Fabrizio De André.
His songs are also featured in this musical fresco centred on the figure of Pasolini.
The lyrics that constitute evidence of Pasolini's compositional work in the field of music were always lived within a process of spectacularization: first, the caustic and brilliant cabaret of Laura Betti, and then the cinema.
