Biography
Danilo Rossi studied with some of the most important masters of viola and chamber music. He graduated at the age of 19 with top honors, but had already distinguished himself at just 16, winning his first International Competition.
Shortly after graduating, he won the audition for Principal Viola of the Orchestra of Teatro alla Scala in Milan, becoming the youngest musician in the history of the renowned theatre to hold this position. From that moment on, Danilo Rossi’s career has been marked by a wide range of collaborations, concerts, festivals, and recitals that have taken him around the world, performing in major theatres and concert halls.
Deeply immersed in music, Danilo Rossi has explored countless musical genres, even those far apart stylistically. His many collaborations with leading jazz and pop artists have made him a unique example of how music can be experienced in its entirety, without barriers.
Danilo Rossi lives music in all its dimensions. Always open to diverse experiences, he has collaborated with actors, writers, and poets, performing in a wide variety of environments — from prisons to the forests of Trentino, from the marshlands of Sri Lanka to off-theatre venues in urban outskirts.
Thanks to the great masters with whom he studied and the significant artistic encounters throughout more than thirty years of career, Danilo Rossi has developed strong musical and human foundations, enabling many of his students to achieve outstanding results through dedicated mentorship.
