Biography

Francesco Cavestri (born in 2003) is an Italian pianist, composer, and music educator.
He graduated with highest honours in Jazz Piano from the Conservatory of Bologna at the age of twenty before continuing his studies at the Berklee College of Music in Boston and The New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music in New York, receiving scholarships from both institutions.
A Steinway Artist since September 2024, Cavestri has been named "New Talent of the Year" by Musica Jazz for three consecutive years. In April 2025, he was included in Forbes Italia's Top 100 Under 30, becoming the first jazz musician to receive this recognition.
In 2024, on the occasion of UNESCO's International Jazz Day, he received the IJVAS Award for young music educators alongside artists such as Stefano Bollani. He also collaborates with the educational association Il Jazz Va a Scuola.
On 29 May 2026, he released NOÈ (Universal Music Italia), his fourth album: ten original compositions spanning solo piano, trio, electronics and orchestral writing, with jazz conceived as "a bridge between genres." The album received extensive coverage from Corriere della Sera, La Repubblica, RAI and Sky TG24, and is the subject of the Sky Arte documentary Blue Note Experience – Francesco Cavestri. It follows Early17 (2022, featuring Fabrizio Bosso), IKI – Bellezza Ispiratrice (2024, featuring Paolo Fresu), Una Morte da Mediano (2024, soundtrack for Rai Play Sound), and the single Entropia with Willie Peyote.
He has performed at Italy's leading jazz clubs and festivals—including Blue Note Milano (two sold-out concerts, with surprise guest Malika Ayane), Casa del Jazz, Alexanderplatz, JazzMi, and Time in Jazz. The international tour for NOÈ has taken him to Dubai, Cologne, Hamburg, Prague, New York (sold out at the Italian Cultural Institute), Chicago, Toronto, Ankara at the Embassy of Italy, and the Teatru Manoel in Malta, where all 600 seats were sold out.
