Biography

Mario Biondi is Italy’s most celebrated jazz-soul vocalist, internationally renowned for his unmistakable deep baritone voice and sophisticated blend of soul, jazz and rhythm & blues.
His breakthrough came with the independently released debut album Handful of Soul, first issued in 2006 by Family Affair. The album featured the single This Is What You Are, which quickly entered heavy radio rotation in both Italy and the United Kingdom thanks to the support of legendary British DJ Norman Jay.
The song went on to enter the Billboard European Top 100 Chart, while Handful of Soul achieved remarkable commercial success, reaching No. 2 on the Italian charts and earning triple platinum certification. The album established Biondi as one of the most distinctive voices in contemporary European soul music.
Over the years, he has built an acclaimed international career, collaborating with leading artists and performing on prestigious stages worldwide. His music seamlessly combines classic soul traditions with contemporary influences, creating a sound that is elegant, timeless and unmistakably personal.
On September 29, 2023, Biondi released Crooning Undercover, an album preceded by the single My Favourite Things, further showcasing his ability to reinterpret classic influences through a modern lens while remaining faithful to his signature style.
In 2026, Mario Biondi will celebrate the 20th anniversary of This Is What You Are with a special Italian and international tour comprising 20 concerts, marking two decades since the release of the song that launched his extraordinary career and introduced his voice to audiences around the world.
