Biography

Tanzmainz is the contemporary dance ensemble of the Staatstheater Mainz and has been directed by Honne Dohrmann since 2014.
The company is made up of 21 dancers who work closely with a range of choreographers and a dedicated production team to create between three and five world premieres each season.
Its artistic philosophy is defined by openness to new ideas, mutual respect, and a high level of collective motivation.
Tanzmainz also organizes, in alternating years, the Tanzmainz Festival and the Tanzmainz Festival UPDATE, placing its own productions within a broader international framework through invitations to artists and companies from around the world.
At the same time, the company is committed to serving as an important cultural ambassador for the city of Mainz and the state of Rhineland-Palatinate, presenting its productions in major theatres both across Germany and internationally.
