A Two-Act Ballet in Modena and Ferrara
Lev Tolstoj’s great novel comes to life through the language of dance in Anna Karenina, a two-act ballet featuring 16 dancers from Anželika Cholina Dance Theatre Vilnius. Choreographer Anželika Cholina combines classical ballet and contemporary dance to tell the story of Anna’s overwhelming passion for Vronskij, her struggle against social conventions and her tragic fate, alongside the other love stories that unfold throughout the novel. Music by Schnittke, Tchaikovsky, Mahler and Fauré accompanies this intense and evocative narrative.
The production will be performed on 6 November at Teatro Comunale Pavarotti-Freni in Modena and on 8 November at Teatro Comunale in Ferrara.
