España is a performance composed of several choreographies whose common thread is dance in Spain, both popular and cultivated traditions.
The escuela flamenca is presented stripped of contemporary tourist stereotypes in order to return to its original form, shaped by Arab, Byzantine, and Romani influences.
The program also includes the escuela bolera, from which a rich repertoire of dances emerged — some of which later evolved into today’s social dances.
The evening further explores Spanish classical dance, a style with its own distinct vocabulary and grammar.
The performance concludes with a choreography that offers an intelligent and spectacular fusion of all three traditions.
