Santi Scarcella achieved remarkable success at the ancient Greek Theatre of Taormina, captivating audiences in one of Italy’s most breathtaking settings with his piano playing and distinctive voice.
He is also the composer behind the documentary Italian Cinema Speaks Italian, commissioned by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, filmed at Cinecittà Studios, broadcast by RAI and later distributed to Italian Cultural Institutes around the world.
With his internationally inspired Sicilian Jazz, and following a collaboration with one of the world’s most celebrated saxophonists, Joe Lovano, Santi Scarcella is ready to dazzle audiences with his virtuosic piano performances and engaging stage presence, infused with the theatrical spirit and warmth of Southern Italy.
In this concert, Scarcella leads the audience on an original and captivating musical journey. Beginning in North America with reimagined works by George Gershwin, Sonny Rollins and Charlie Parker, the program travels through South America with music by Antonio Carlos Jobim and Zequinha de Abreu, before arriving in Italy through fresh interpretations of Luigi Tenco, Giacomo Puccini, Armando Trovajoli and Renato Carosone.
The journey also includes excursions into the classical repertoire of Mozart, Chopin and Beethoven, before reaching Sicily itself, where Scarcella presents original compositions infused with Mediterranean colors and atmospheres.
Already featured in theatres and festivals throughout Italy, the performance strikes a perfect balance between sophisticated jazz that invites attentive listening and an energetic, vibrant concert experience that actively engages the audience, while never compromising on the highest standards of musical excellence.
