INVITO AL VIAGGIO - CONCERTO PER FRANCO BATTIATO

Invito al viaggio - Concerto per Franco Battiato

A major tribute concert dedicated to Franco Battiato took place on September 21 at the Arena di Verona, bringing together many of the most prominent names in Italian music to celebrate the legacy of the Sicilian artist.
The date was chosen deliberately: on September 21, 1981, Battiato released La voce del padrone, the album that would become his most iconic pop record and a landmark in Italian music history.
Following Battiato’s passing on May 18, 2021, the event became a heartfelt homage to one of Italy’s most influential and innovative artists. The lineup featured some of the country’s biggest musical stars, all eager to pay tribute to a figure whose work transcended genres and generations.
The concert celebrated the full breadth of Battiato’s artistic journey. Throughout his career, he moved effortlessly between pop and classical music, avant-garde experimentation and mainstream success. He explored electronic music, incorporated ethnic and world music influences, and ventured into opera and dance, continually redefining the boundaries of artistic expression.
Battiato’s creativity also extended to cinema. He directed several films, including Perduto amor, which earned him the Nastro d’Argento Award for Best New Director, as well as Niente è come sembra and Musikanten, dedicated to Ludwig van Beethoven and presented at the Venice Film Festival.
