The Firebird is one of the great ballets presented at the Opéra de Paris by Les Ballets Russes, with music commissioned from Igor Stravinsky. In this version, choreographer Edouard Hue explores a new choreographic horizon.
Hue uses his powerful and distinctive movement language to reinterpret this famous work in dialogue with our time. He explores each tableau with his characteristic luminosity, creating a graphic and intense choreography that reflects the animalistic style that defines his work.
Edouard Hue’s movement vocabulary arises from research based on bodily transformation, leading the performers to express the full extent of their power and virtuosity. Drawing on the ballet’s narrative framework, Hue seeks to create a contemporary and narrative work charged with strong emotions.

About: Boléro

A musical and choreographic monument, Maurice Ravel’s Boléro places rhythm and time at the center of the work, developing a “melody tirelessly coiled around itself, a feminine symbol,” to which “the masculine rhythm responds, increasing in volume and intensity until it eventually absorbs it.”*
I would like to stretch a sensitive arc between human beings, bringing the structure of a Boléro—which opposes, fragments, and creates tension—toward an encounter beyond gender. To cultivate what brings us closer together. To imagine the musical ascending spiral as the driving force of the energy carried by a dance that unites.
A Boléro that resonates as a hymn to encounter through dance.
