Statement of Intent
As a prelude to the establishment of the Accrorap company in southern France, this piece is an invitation from choreographer Kader Attou to a dozen professional hip-hop dancers from the region to enter his artistic universe. This work, conceived as “all-encompassing and without limits,” was first presented at the Festival de Marseille 2022. It was designed to reach a wide range of audiences and bring hip-hop dance into unconventional spaces, pushing the boundaries of choreographic writing and creating new connections between the territory and the artists.
Prélude tells the story of the encounter between the music of Romain Dubois and the physicality of the dancers.
The music, a rhythmic and melodic crescendo, holds us in an intensity that gradually turns into tension.
The dancers’ virtuosity beats in unison with the music and with the audience’s attention. The tension rises and the dancers’ bodies move as one. Spectators are swept into a powerful, almost raw energy that leads them to experience intense emotions. Holding their breath, they take part in the journey, letting themselves go until the final release.
