TORNEREMO ANCORA - Concerto mistico per Battiato
– ‘Who do you think your audience is?’ Battiato asked me in 2007.
I don't know...
– "It's not a question of quality or numbers. Your audience is people who look like you. Many or few, it makes no difference: your audience is made up of entities that vibrate at the same frequency as you, and with whom you connect through what you express with your art.
Entity, frequency, connection. Words spoken on a torrid Sicilian afternoon, and which influenced my life, stimulating me to build an artistic path under the banner of extreme freedom.
Simone Cristicchi
A musical journey in search of the essence in the confusion of modernity, a rapture - mystical and sensual - so necessary in these times in which we live.
This is ‘Torneremo ancora’ - a mystical concert for Battiato, the new and extraordinary project by Simone Cristicchi and Amara, organised by International Music and Arts. Inspired by the great Maestro's mystical repertoire, the two artists, for the first time together on stage, gracefully and respectfully interpret the spiritual messages that have made his work immortal.
An opportunity to rediscover a precious legacy, in a brand new version arranged by Maestro Valter Sivilotti.
There are few artists like Franco Battiato, capable with their works of “sewing” earth and sky, achieving the rare harmony capable of awakening and caressing the soul.
A pilgrim of the Absolute and a revolutionary of music, he has left an inestimable heritage, in which the song form is combined with a profound spiritual tension: from the universal prayer L'ombra della Luce to the poignant La cura, passing through E ti vengo a cercare up to Torneremo ancora, his last recorded track and not by chance the title chosen for the concert.
This is the freedom I have always admired in Battiato: it reveals Simone Cristicchi. I owe a lot to him, I owe a lot to his infinite grace, to his way of conceiving art as a “mission” to help the growth and spiritual evolution of his contemporaries. Battiato is a point of no return: there is a before and an after him, no one else. He was the only singer of a divine that never knew of incense and sacristies. With this project I feel the thrill and privilege of interpreting his mystical repertoire together with Amara, and immersing myself even more deeply in those messages that cross the boundaries of time.
Travelling in the awareness of Battiato's lucid consciousness has been like pushing myself across borders, a rising to new frequencies, other codes, other certainties, higher visions of the self and of the surrounding reality: Amara underlines. A radical transmutation, I would say, for someone like me who is looking for truths and new horizons to cross.
Thanks to Franco, I realised that it is only by going beyond oneself that one can reach that “Centre of Permanent Gravity” that we seek so much.
Accompanying the two artists on stage are Maestro Valter Sivilotti on piano and soloists from the Naonis Academy of Pordenone (Lucia Clonfero, Igor Dario, Alan Dario, U.T. Gandhi, Franca Drioli). Alternating the performance of the pieces are some readings taken from the masters who have influenced Battiato's thought: Rumi, Gurdjieff, Ramana Maharshi, Willigis Jager and the theologian Guidalberto Bormolini.
Approaching a giant like Battiato is no easy task. Simone Cristicchi and Amara possess the necessary depth of soul to successfully meet this challenge,' says Franz Cattini, founder of IMARTS and Franco Battiato's long-time manager.
The mystical concert “Torneremo ancora”, far from a sterile celebration, aims to become a musical liturgy, on the trail of the unfathomable mystery of Being before the Divine.
