ALICE

Biography

Carla Bissi won the Festival di Voci Nuove in Castrocaro Terme in 1971, and the following year made her debut at the Sanremo Music Festival with Il mio cuore se ne va. During the same period, she received the Gondola d’Argento at the Venice International Exhibition of Light Music for La festa mia by Franco Califano.
In 1975 she launched her professional career under the pseudonym Alice Visconti, releasing La mia poca grande età. In 1978 she released Cosa resta… Un fiore and definitively adopted the stage name Alice. Her move to EMI marked a decisive turning point: she began a pivotal collaboration with Franco Battiato, alongside Giusto Pio, leading to the album Capo Nord and the success of Il vento caldo dell’estate.
In 1981 she won the Sanremo Music Festival with Per Elisa, opening a period of major international recognition, particularly across Europe. Further successes followed, including Zu nah am Feuer (1984) and Gioielli rubati (1985), which earned her the Tenco Prize for Best Female Performer.
In the following years, Alice continued to experiment and collaborate with internationally renowned musicians, releasing albums such as Park Hotel, Viaggio in Italia, Samsara, and Weekend. At the same time, she pursued an in-depth reinterpretation of Franco Battiato’s work, culminating in projects such as Alice canta Battiato, Eri con me (2022), and the related tours.
In 2022 she received the Tenco Prize for Lifetime Achievement. In 2024, her autobiography L’unica via d’uscita è dentro was published by Rizzoli Lizard, written by Alice in collaboration with Francesco Messina.
In 2025/2026 she continues the Master Songs tour.
