Biography

Founded in 1967, Inti-Illimani takes its name from two indigenous languages: Inti, meaning “sun” in Quechua, and Illimani, the name of the mountain overlooking La Paz, Bolivia. Together, the name can be interpreted as “the sun of the mountain near La Paz.”
Originally formed by a group of young students from the Technical State University of Chile, the ensemble emerged within the influential movement known as the Nueva Canción Chilena (New Chilean Song Movement), which flourished between 1965 and 1973 and combined traditional Latin American music with strong social and cultural engagement.
Following the political upheavals of 1973, the group settled in Europe, making Italy their home and establishing a profound connection with Italian audiences. Throughout the 1980s and beyond, Inti-Illimani achieved remarkable success, reaching the top of the Italian charts and earning numerous Gold and Platinum Records.
With millions of records sold worldwide, the group has performed in more than 58 countries and shared stages with some of the most important artists of the international music scene, including Bruce Springsteen, Sting, Peter Gabriel, Tracy Chapman, Joan Baez, Mercedes Sosa, Silvio Rodríguez, Milton Nascimento, Lucio Dalla, Pablo Milanés, Paco Peña, John Williams and many others.
Over more than five decades, Inti-Illimani has become one of the most respected and influential ambassadors of Latin American music and culture. In 2017, the ensemble celebrated its 50th anniversary with a major tour across Chile and two sold-out concerts at Santiago’s Teatro Caupolicán.

Giulio Wilson

Singer-songwriter Giulio Wilson, born in Florence, combines his passion for music with his work as a winemaker and wine producer in Tuscany.
His artistic career began with the album Soli nel Midwest, produced by Enzo Iacchetti, and has since been marked by collaborations with a wide range of acclaimed artists, including Vinicio Capossela, Roberto Piumini, Bobby Solo, Roy Paci, I Musici di Francesco Guccini, and, notably, Inti-Illimani.
Over the years, Wilson has received numerous prestigious awards and recognitions. Among them are the MEI Award for Best Singer-Songwriter in 2017, victory at the Bologna Musica d’Autore competition, the Anacapri Bruno Lauzi Prize in 2018, the Premio Bertoli in 2019, and the Critics’ Award at Voci per la Libertà – Una Canzone per Amnesty.
In 2019, he also won 1Maggio Next, earning a performance on the stage of Rome’s iconic May Day Concert.
Following the release of the EP Futuro Remoto in 2018, Wilson continued his artistic journey with Storie vere tra Alberi e Gatti, a collection of songs suspended outside of time, blending storytelling, poetry and personal reflection.
Together, Inti-Illimani and Giulio Wilson bring together different generations, cultures and musical traditions, creating a dialogue between Latin American roots, Italian songwriting and a shared passion for stories, memory and human experience.
