Danilo Rossi, historic Principal Viola of Teatro alla Scala in Milan, joins the Trio Gipsy (already active with artists such as Vinicio Capossela, Stefano Bollani, Moni Ovadia, Samuele Bersani, and many others) in a geographical and cultural journey across the Balkans, featuring composers such as Dvořák, Brahms, and Bartók, reinterpreted through a gypsy, virtuosic, and folk-inspired perspective. A multifaceted and highly versatile ensemble, delivering a high-energy performance — a continuous challenge of notes, a tribute to the great Eastern European repertoire, and an evening that makes it impossible to remain seated. Chosen at just twenty years old by Riccardo Muti for the role of Principal Viola at Teatro alla Scala in Milan, Danilo Rossi has performed worldwide in the most prestigious theatres and festivals, collaborating with leading conductors and soloists.
The New Gipsy Project features musicians from Bucharest, all born into musical families and later established in Italy, with collaborations including Moni Ovadia, Ennio Morricone, Samuele Bersani, Fabrizio Bentivoglio, Vinicio Capossela, Stefano Bollani, and Emir Kusturica.
