Remembering Whitney & Tina

The renowned Harlem Gospel Choir returns to Italy with an uplifting and energetic concert that blends the roots of gospel music with the irresistible power of soul inspired by the legendary Motown tradition.

For decades, America’s most famous gospel choir has carried a message of love, unity and inspiration around the world, touching audiences with voices that lift the spirit and ignite the heart. Their performances are a vibrant celebration of joy, freedom and spirituality.

In this new production, the Harlem Gospel Choir pays tribute to a golden era of African American music, highlighting the historic legacy of Motown, the record label that revolutionized the global music scene during the 1960s and helped advance racial integration through its distinctive soul-pop sound.

With an extraordinary 79 Top 10 Billboard hits in a single decade, Motown defined a generation and continues to inspire artists and audiences worldwide. More than a concert, this is a celebration of music, history and the human spirit.

Founded in 1986 by Allen Bailey, the Harlem Gospel Choir is composed of some of the finest voices and musicians from the Gospel churches of Harlem and New York City. Through its music, the choir has long been committed to fostering a deeper understanding of African American culture and Gospel music, sharing its values and message with audiences across the globe.

The ensemble has performed alongside international stars such as Bono of U2, Diana Ross, Gorillaz, André Rieu, and more recently Sam Smith, Damon Albarn and Pharrell Williams. They are the only gospel choir in the world to have performed for two Popes—John Paul II and Benedict XVI—as well as two Presidents of the United States, Jimmy Carter and Barack Obama, members of the Royal Family, and Nelson Mandela. They have also recorded with artists including Sir Keith Richards, The Chieftains and Trace Adkins.

In 2022, the choir toured major cities worldwide with Harlem Gospel Choir Sings Nina Simone, while in 2023 they presented Celebrating 60 Years of Whitney Houston, a special tribute marking the sixtieth anniversary of the iconic singer’s birth.
