Another History of Music, a project dedicated to the discovery and rediscovery of great women in the arts, featuring the special participation of renowned musicologist Anna Maria Sollima.
A careful examination of historical sources reveals that women composers have been a constant presence across the centuries. Yet they were long silenced within a predominantly patriarchal society.
Deep-rooted prejudices tied to gender roles confined their music to obscurity — music that, in both quality and quantity, proves to be profoundly inspired and artistically significant.
This lecture-concert alternates narration and performance, aiming not only to bring to light an unjustly neglected repertoire, but also to share the stories of these courageous and determined women — artists who challenged prejudice, endured sacrifice, renunciation, and at times humiliation, yet never gave up. They continued to compose with commitment and passion.
