Viaggio attraverso la musica di Franco Battiato
Traiettorie impercettibili (Imperceptible Trajectories) is the upcoming recording and live project by Federico Mecozzi, violinist, composer, and multi-instrumentalist who has been a longtime collaborator of Ludovico Einaudi for the past 15 years.
“It is,” the artist explains, “a deeply personal journey through the music of Franco Battiato, who has been the highest reference point in my artistic growth. The profound devotion I feel toward his music led me to make it my own — boldly, yet with the utmost humility — seemingly stripping it of the power of words and transforming it into an instrumental discourse. Starting from his immortal themes and harmonies, the music is reimagined through the language that belongs most to me, centered on the violin and enriched by the diverse timbres I love to explore.”
The project is therefore a path of reinterpretation of some of Franco Battiato’s greatest masterpieces, further enhanced by the presence of distinguished guest artists who were closely connected to the iconic Sicilian songwriter.
“All the artistic material contained within the songs I chose to dissect and reshape — the melodies, rhythms, harmonic passages — like the unpredictable flights in Gli uccelli, become imperceptible trajectories to be perceived in a new form, from a different, subtle point of view.”
