Elvis Perkins is the son of Anthony Perkins, the unforgettable face of “Psycho”. His mother, Berry Berenson, a well-known photographer for magazines such as “Life” and “Vogue”, was aboard the plane that first crashed into the North Tower of the World Trade Center on the morning of 9/11.
Perkins makes his recording debut in 2007 with “Ash Wednesday”, which collects songs written half before the death of his mother (to whom the album is dedicated) and for the other half in the following period. Recorded in Burbank and Los Angeles, the compositions of “Ash Wednesday” take shape with the help of his friend Ethan Gold in production, as well as a multifaceted orchestra of collaborators, which also includes mong its ranks his brother Oz Perkins, actor like the father.

His recording debut follows the 2009 album “Elvis Perkins in Dearland”, then “I Aubade” of 2015 and “The Blackcoat’s Daughter”, soundtrack of the 2015 psychological horror film, first work of his brother Oz Perkins as director . “Creation Myths” is from 2020. Elvis Perkins stages the genesis of the universe to talk about himself, what he was and what he has become.
“They’re all songs written a long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away”, confesses Perkins about the nine tracks of “Creation Myths”: a relic of his entering the world as an artist, at the dawn of the current millennium. Why then register them now? “I have carried them with me since their genesis and always suspected that at some point they would be documented. But you never know when the right time will finally come.” The right moment, precisely: the moment to look in the mirror, to look for the signs of the road traveled on one’s face.
