Following the extraordinary success of The Phantom of the Opera and Anastasia, a new musical production is set to leave its mark on the Italian theatre scene. Created by the same producers and creative team, The Prince of Egypt – The Musical is based on the acclaimed DreamWorks animated film produced by Steven Spielberg’s legendary studio. Produced by Broadway Italia Srl, the show is a true theatrical blockbuster, featuring an impressive production with over 50 performers on stage, designed to bring to life a universal story that combines spectacle, emotion and profound themes.

An International-Scale Production

The musical features music by Stephen Schwartz, the three-time Academy Award-winning composer behind some of the most celebrated scores in international entertainment, including Pocahontas, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, and Wicked. Among its most iconic songs is When You Believe, winner of the Academy Award for Best Original Song and made famous worldwide by Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey.

After premiering in London’s West End in 2020, The Prince of Egypt – The Musical now arrives in a new Italian production, even more spectacular and designed for audiences of all ages.

The production is directed by Federico Bellone, one of the leading figures in contemporary musical theatre and the creative force behind the Italian successes of The Phantom of the Opera and Anastasia The Musical.

Special effects, a central element of the production, are created by Paolo Carta, one of the industry's foremost experts, who employs innovative stagecraft techniques to recreate the famous Ten Plagues of Egypt.

The Story

The musical tells the story of a child abandoned on the Nile and raised within the Egyptian royal family. Growing up as the “brother” of the heir to the throne, he experiences friendship, loyalty and passion grounded in universal human values.

An epic tale filled with action and spirituality comes to life through breathtaking lighting, striking stage imagery and an unforgettable score.

The show will have its Italian preview performances at Teatro Rossetti in Trieste from May 14 to 17, 2026, its National Premiere at Teatro Brancaccio in Rome from October 29 to November 15, 2026, and will then move to Teatro Arcimboldi in Milan from November 26 to December 13, 2026.
